Need some saving tips so you can have that extra cash when the baby comes? If you are going to be a mommy soon, it is important that you try and save as much as you can for the new family member on the way. Once the baby arrives you will have a whole new bunch of bills to pay so there will not be too much scope for saving, at least in the beginning until everything settles into a routine and expenses cool off a bit. If you have to face financial difficulties from day one of bringing your baby home, it will put you in a really sticky spot which is why you should try and save as much as you can in preparation for the baby. Here are some helpful and easy ways for you to save up while you wait for your baby.

Saving tip 01: Put cash away in Fixed Deposits

If you are thinking about saving money in your normal current or savings account and you have a debit card for it, you can pretty much bid that option a sad farewell. It will not work! Instead make sure that once you save your money stays saved until you think it is the right time for you to spend it. The best option for this would be opening a fixed deposit on short term such as 3 or 6 months. This way if you choose to not withdraw the deposit at the end of the period it will renew itself automatically and if you choose to withdraw it you will have the rainy day cash that you need.

Saving tip 02: Avoid impulse shopping

You should try and limit your trips to the supermarket or the local clothing store as much as possible and when you do go, try and shop for pretty much everything that you need for at least the month. The reason for this is that it is very easy to get carried away with impulsive shopping for just about anybody and when you have a baby on the way, you can easily justify your expenses (or so you think until you go broke that is). Therefore limit the number of times that you go out shopping and even if you do, talk yourself out of buying things that deep down inside you know you will never use or need.

Saving tip 03: Draw the line between wants and needs

There are two types of things that you can get; one would be things that you actually need or essentials in other words and the other would be things that you simply want. They are not needed and you can do just as well without them. What you need to focus on buying are the needs and not the wants. If you try to satisfy all the wants that you have, you might just not have enough money for the real needs of the baby when they come along.
